An old fogy's website

Most of dogpatchcentral.net is free software which you can redistribute and/or modify under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) as published by the Free Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or (at your option) any later version.

The content of dogpatchcentral.net is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

As you may already have noticed, dogpatchcentral.net is a personal, non-commercial website which is nonetheless copyright protected. Unless otherwise noted on the individual page or program file, all dogpatchcentral.net content is Copyright (c) 2017-2025 Gerald DePyper.

Not to worry. Most dogpatchcentral.net content (exceptions noted below) are licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL), version 3, which you may review in its entirety -> here, or you may navigate to https://www.gnu.org/licenses/ for more information.

Stated simply, this means that you may freely copy, download, and modify the contents (pages, scripts, images, blog articles & comments, and programs) found at dogpatchcentral.net, and use them for your own purposes. What you may not do is copyright them (whether modified or not) under a more restrictive or propietary license. If you give or sell this stuff to others, you must honor the terms of the GPL so that those others may also freely use it without legal hindrance.

Content included in GPL license:

Generally speaking, the GPL license applies to anything within dogpatchcentral.net to which you can navigate in a normal manner. If your standards-compliant browser can view it, then you can copy it and use it freely. If a dogpatchcentral.net page provides a link to download a dogpatchcentral.net source file (such as the "Fractional-exponential integers" page), the linked file comes with GPL freedom. Of course, this also applies to underlying html and javascript code which you can view via your browser's 'View Source' facility, and to included stylesheets and javascript files. If 'View Source' shows an html comment like the boxed text above, that page is included in the GPL. (Note that while dogpatchcentral.net offers navigation links to other sites, it will never use stylesheets, scripts, or source code from other domains.)

Included, with caveats:

GPL means you may freely copy and use CyberJerry content (w/ caveats)

Server-side (php) scripts are not specifically included, since your browser will not have direct access, and since I won't bother to maintain a pile of downloadable tar files for these scripts. Most php scripts at dogpatchcentral.net are trivial, merely handling page layout, etc. Others, such as for "" and the blog perform some substantial server-side tasks. In all cases, if you're interested in one or more specific php script, just let me know via my Contact page, and I'll try to accomodate your request.

Of special consideration is the Sudoku page, where server-side actions include binary executables compiled from C and assembly language source code. I would love to share the C and assembly source files in GPL fashion, so that others may further develop my logic, and so no one can claim propietary rights over it. There are a mountain of source code files, they're not well organized with a single make facility, and none of them reside on the server. So I would have to know the specifics of what you'd like to run with. Again, start a conversation with me via the Contact page, and I'll try to accomodate your request.

Not included:

Note that when you submit a comment to the blog, you thereby include your comment in this site's GPL license. You implicitly agree that your words are not already protected under a more restrictive license, and may be freely quoted, copied, and shared per GPL

I promise the members of my blog and other dogpatchcentral.net visitors that I will never divulge their personal information - real name, email address, etc. So these personal data and the scripts that access them are not included in the GPL license. (This restriction does not apply to anyone's public blog ID nor to their published blog comments, which are free per the GPL. See boxed note.)

Each one of Jerry's books comes with its own copyright, all rights reserved. All the real estate pages with their input forms are likewise copyright protected.

There are also a few private pages at dogpatchcentral.net: a private message board and a couple personal databases with maintenance scripts. These are not included in the GPL license, but are copyrighted with all rights reserved, scripts and data. I doubt that this even needs mentioning, since you will never be able to navigate to these pages via normal means, as specified 5 paragraphs above. Even were you to somehow stumble across one of these pages, you'd not be able to read or alter their data. (If you think I'm just bragging, and you can hack your way in, let me know what you've done; I won't press any legal charges. In fact, if you can prove that you've accessed one or more of these private areas, I will humbly and publicly acknowledge your superior internet skills. [snicker])
